시애틀 2 : 옆동네의 매력, 프리몬트 Seattle, Fremont’s attraction

2020년 2월의 마지막에 방문한 시애틀의 프레몬트 기록 (프리몬트)
[ Today I’m making a little log about my visit to Fremont, Seattle back in February 2020 ]

 

 

지도 밑에 집 이모지를 표시한 곳이 시애틀에서 묵었던 숙소 위치다. 그리고 위에 빨간 압정을 표시한 곳이, 방문하기 좋은 hip한 이웃동네라는 추천을 받은 Fremont!

[ I was staying in a hostel in front of Pike Place Market(down with the house emoji), and on the upper side’s red pinned point is where my Marketing Director suggsted for me to visit since they’re pretty much hip neighborhood. ;) ]

프레몬트 근처 방문할 만한 장소들을 찾다가, ‘We Buy Books’ 표지가 있는 중고 서점이 눈에 띄었다.
구글에서 찾아보니 붙임성 좋은 고양이가 있는 특별한 책방이라는 후기가 있어 들어가보았다. 헌 책방이라니, 내게 필요한 책이 있으면 꼭 사서 돌아가도 좋은 기념품이 될 것만 같았다.

 

 

[ Says the window of one place, ‘We Buy Books’, I quickly looked up the place on Google Maps and the review, and figured out in there I could meet a cat who would most likely greet me and any guest to the used bookstore. The name of the place is Ophelia’s Used Bookstore. ]

책방의 이름은 Ophelia’s Books.
내 기억으론 방문 당시인 2월엔 Ophelia’s Used Bookstore로 기억하는데 바뀐 것은 기분 탓일까 :>

 

 

 

[ She’s the owner of this amazing place. I asked if I could check upstairs out too and said she, “Sure!”
*Creak*
*Creaks
The sound of wooden stairs made me realize I was in a special place, aged with all the visitors since the past. ]

아담하고 소중한 장소 같아 이층에도 올라가도 될지 물어보는 내게 오필리아는 굉장히 친절하게 그래도 된다고 했다. 삐걱삐걱한 계단을 올라가는 것이 바로 이런 작은 서점에서만 찾을 수 있는 묘미 아닐까.

 

 

반겨주는 고양이가 있다는 걸 알곤 왔지만,
상상보다 더 선명한 이 친구가 툭 튀어나오자 뭔가 비현실적이었다. 날 따라와, 하는 것만 같은 이 터줏대감은 얼마나 많은 사람들의 마음을 매료했을까

[ Okay. So mostly why I was there in the middle of those books was to see the cat, right. But when I confronted the cat, the existence of this creature was so strong that I alsmost felt a bit unreal to see him when expected. The moment was so vivid.]

 

 

[ This cat even double tapped it’s tail to a specific book, even though it must had been a coincidence. Maybe not coincidence, right?]

우연이라기엔 너무 의도적으로 보인 고양이의 한 행동.
꼬리를 바짝 세워 특정한 책을 두번 톡톡 두드리더라. 아마 꼬리로 기지개를 피다 건드린 걸 수도 있는데, 아닐수도 있잖아?

 

 

 

특정한 장소에 집중해서 있다 보면 시간이 참 빨리 간다.
서점 옆집에 괜찮아 보이는 쌀국수 집이 있었지만 청개구리처럼 다른 맞은편 쌀국수 집으로 향해 배를 든든히 채워 보았다.

[ Getting out of the bookstore after some good time, I saw a pho place very next to it. But I felt like eating at another pho store by crossing the road. Anyway I ended up having a bowl of hot pho on that day. ]
